Havera Beck Culvert
November 2011
This project aimed to replace old pipes with new, larger and, most importantly, straight culverts which will hopefully be much more inviting to migratory fish.
Having commissioned Cheetham Hill Construction Ltd. to dig a trial trench to check for services under the road and having resited the new culverts to the satisfaction of Capita Highways, work finally started in February 2011 and was completed in March 2011. Eden Stonework have installed the new culverts, redirected Havera Beck through them and then reinstated and landscaped the ground on both sides of the road. The banks below the road were reseeded and new hedges planted on both sides. We are delighted with the end result and our thanks go to ART for funding the project, the Duckworths and Parkins for allowing us to carry out the work, the EA and Capita Highways for their patient advice and Eden Stonework for a difficult job well done. Cost: £57k.
